More than 10% of Parks Canada staff employed out of the office in Revelstoke will either be laid off or have their hours reduced following the announced public sector slashes by Prime Minister Stephen Harper this week.
Currently the Revelstoke office employees 130 people in Mount Revelstoke, Glacier National Park and the Rogers Pass Historic Site. 14 of those employees may be out of jobs when the aforementioned cuts kick in. Parks Canada was hit hard from coast to coast with more than 1,500 people looking at reduced hours or no job at all.
